I wholeheartedly recommend the Lindenwood. It has been a pleasure to be a guest in what feels like a loving home. Fred and Jim are the most welcoming and thoughtful hosts. The inn is lovely and exudes character. There are great views, a lovely pool, sweets and tea, cocktails and the best breakfast. The porch is a gathering place to enjoy breakfast or chatting with the guests. There seems to be a magic in their style that many four star hotels are lacking. This place sparkles with perfection. Enjoy!!

Superb, homey inn in Southwest Harbor, ME. Features great harbor views from second and third floors, pool and hot tub, outstanding breakfasts, honor bar, etc. Particularly good for families--something you don't always find in BnBs. Third floor room with private deck particularly exceptional.

Feels like a home away from home! There was not a single negative about our stay. The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated. The owner and the staff are warm and welcoming. We went deep sea fishing during our stay, and they opened the kitchen to us in the evening so that we could prepare the fish. A pool and hot tub are a nice amenity, and the home-made breakfast is superb. We especially loved the view of the harbor from our third-floor terrace. The inn is within walking distance from the shops and restaurants of Southwest Harbor. Really, a perfect vacation spot in Maine!

This is a fabulous bed and breakfast. The rooms are well-furnished and comfortable. Many of the rooms have fireplaces in them. The windows open, which is useful in Maine because the weather is so nice. The owner has an incredible art collection displayed throughout the inn that adds a lot of character. The breakfast was one of the best I've had at a bed and breakfast. They have fruit, cereal, yogurt parfaits, and freshly made baked goods that you can serve yourself. In addition to that, they also offer a hot breakfast, which is delicious. I would most definitely recommend this inn.

I agree with the previous review in that this was one of the best bed and breakfasts I've ever been to. The room was very clean and cozy, with antique furniture and decorations. We didn't spend too much time in our room, because the living room is inviting and the hot tub and pool outside are excellent and open all night. They have an open bar with a wide assortment of wine, beer, liquor and mixers. You can mix your own drinks and pay on an honor system by writing down your name and drink and adding it to your tab. The staff was very inviting, showing us around the house and giving us plenty of personalized ideas for the next days' hiking before leaving for the night. We stayed at four different places on the Island when visiting Arcadia, and this was by far the best and well worth the price.

In a word: WOW! After reading this review, I know you will book a stay at The Lindenwood Inn. Just call them now and read my review later. Okay, now that you've made the call, I'll tell you a little about what you'll find here... My wife and I, avid twenty-something adventurers from Seattle, on a budget, have built a solid list of our favorite B&Bs over the years during our numerous national park vacations; our stay at The Lindenwood Inn this week easily tops the list. Surrounded by the comparatively small, yet magnificent scenery of Acadia National Park and the quaint fishing hamlet that is Southwest Harbor, The Lindenwood Inn is everything you'd want in a B&B and more. This historic house is eclectically and exquisitely updated without being pretentious. Never before have my wife and I so literally 'made ourselves at home.' The staff is incredibly friendly; they are great rapport builders. We arrived late in the evening (during May, in the off-season) and the owner, Jim, stayed up to greet us. It was easy to get carried away chatting for hours with him and other guests at the fireside. If you'd rather not mingle around the living room fireplace, however, you can always retreat to your clean, beautiful, quiet, tranquil, and romantic room. Our room was the perfect place to unwind after a day of adventure in Acadia. There is a bar downstairs near the kitchen where you can help yourself to a fairly priced adult beverage; just log your drinks on your room tab (using the honor system). They have an impressive array of beer, wine, and cocktails. The breakfast: magnificent (and filling). Bill, the on-site chef, is brilliant (the staff here previously ran a restaurant). I'm confident that the best food on the island is right here at the Lindenwood Inn. And since you don't have to go anywhere or fork out extra dough for breakfast, well, that's what often makes B&Bs a no-brainer. During our stay, Jim and Bill began experimenting with a dinner offering, too, which we were very pleased with. This was especially nice during the off-season as dining choices were rather limited--Wait! What?! Really?! A bed & breakfast AND supper?! Yes, people. Yes.
